Our story

Dine with purpose. Give with impact.

Teranga Grill is a nonprofit restaurant by the Boston Innovation Community — where a great halal meal and a free meal for a neighbor are the same act.

Our mission

To nourish communities and empower individuals by providing free meals, economic opportunity, and community-centered support across Greater Boston.

Our vision

A Greater Boston where every family has access to nutritious food and every young person has the tools to build a sustainable future.

Our history

Founded in 2023, rooted in Roxbury

Teranga Grill was founded in 2023 in Boston at the intersection of three urgent needs: food access, youth empowerment, and economic dignity. Named for the Wolof word for hospitality, it began with a simple belief — that a restaurant can feed a neighborhood twice over.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every plate we serve helps fund free meals and creates opportunity for the young people building Boston’s future.

What guides us

Our values

Dignity first

Every neighbor is served a warm, halal, nourishing meal with respect — never as charity, always as hospitality.

Community-centered

We hire, train and buy locally, keeping value inside the neighborhoods we serve.

Opportunity

We turn a kitchen into a classroom — paid training and ownership for young entrepreneurs.
